SALT LAKE CITY — Tom Danielson has already won the Tour of Utah twice, but he'll be looking to make it a magic three in a row when the race begins on Monday.

"I am super proud to be two-time defending champion of this race," Danielson said. "The state of Utah and the race are one of a kind."

Danielson headlined the riders announced Thursday for next week's race, which faces some of bike racing's best professionals up against the varied terrain of Utah.

Last year's runner up, and 2013 Vuelta a Espaa champion, 43-year-old Chris Horner, is also in this year's race. Horner has finished second twice in Tour of Utah history.

Frank Schleck, brother of 2010 Tour de France winner Andy Schleck, was the third place finisher in the 2011 Tour de France.

Two riders in the Tour of Utah currently live in Salt Lake City. Rob Squire of Hincapie Racing Team and Erik Slack of Jelly Belly presented by Maxxis will be part of the 125-rider field.

Four racing teams in this year's Tour of Utah field also competed in the Tour de France: BMC Racing Team, Team Cannondale-Garmin, MTN-Qhubeka presented by Samsung and Trek Factory Racing. Brothers Tanner Putt of UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team and Chris Putt of Axeon Cycling Team grew up in Park City.

The 2015 Tour of Utah begins Monday, Aug. 3, in Logan and continues until Sunday, Aug. 9, when the race finishes in Park City. Rosters and team information are available on the Tour of Utah website.
