OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The University of Central Oklahoma has received a $7.7 million federal grant to help track students' life skills that aren't typically found on a college transcript.
The Oklahoman reports (http://bit.ly/1qWl5sb ) the U.S. Department of Education awarded the five-year grant to develop the tracking program. The project will assess "soft skills" such as leadership, teamwork and cultural competency.
University officials say college graduates will have a record of those life skills that is accessible to potential employers in addition to academic transcripts. It's unclear when those records will be available.
The university president says the money will be used in part to create an app for tracking and assessing students' accomplishments.
