Lance Bandley ReportingA seven-year old was bitten by a snake near Jordanelle Reservoir.

The seven-year old girl was near the lookout point at Jordanelle when she was bit on the foot.

"All rattlesnakes are well camouflaged in their natural habitats, which make it hard to see them," says George Oliver, a Wildlife Biologist.

Oliver says rattlesnakes are found all over Utah. People are rarely bitten and sometimes they are dry bites without venom.

Oliver says the best thing to do is wear shoes instead of sandals while outdoors. Hands and arms are usually attacked the most.

"More danger exists when climbing up a slope or a cliff to reach a ledge you can't see," add Oliver.

Nine people have been bitten by rattlesnakes in Utah this year.
