SARATOGA SPRINGS — A Saratoga Springs woman has been arrested after police say she shot and killed her friend as part of a suicide pact, but did not take her own life.

Heavenly Faith Garfield, 21, was booked into the Utah County Jail Monday for investigation of murder and discharge of a firearm.

Just before 3:30 p.m., police were called to a home in Saratoga Springs on a report that a "21-year-old female was dead inside the house and had died from a gunshot wound," according to a police booking affidavit.

Police found a woman deceased who had been shot in the head. Her name has not yet been released. Garfield and her father were also in the house.

"Detectives learned that the deceased 21-year-old female allegedly had a suicide pact with Heavenly Faith Garfield and had been planning on killing themselves together for multiple weeks," the affidavit states.

Garfield's father was the person who called 911. He said the victim was shot about 10:45 a.m.

Police later contacted a friend of the deceased woman who "was able to provide text messages he had received from the victim stating that she intended on committing suicide, but was too scared to kill herself. The friend told detectives that the victim had also told him that she intended to commit suicide with her friend, whom he identified as Heavenly Faith, and that one of them would kill the other, and then kill themselves," the affidavit states.
