PROVO — BYU basketball had an extra spot on the roster after Eric Mika elected to forego his final two seasons in favor of a pro career.

That spot is now taken.

KaJon Brown from Lee College in Baytown, Texas, announced his commitment to the Cougars via Twitter on Tuesday night. The 6-foot-5 combo guard played his freshman season at Tulsa, appearing in just six games with one start, before transferring to Lee as a sophomore.

A native of Harvey, Louisiana, Brown averaged 8.8 points and 3.1 rebounds on 45.8 percent shooting for the Runnin’ Rebels, who are located just 30 miles outside of Houston in his lone season of JUCO basketball.

Brown recently visited BYU's campus, around the same time he was mulling a recruiting visit to Penn State, among others.

“I want to thank my family and friends for supporting me throughout my recruiting process, and also my coaches for helping me get better every day,” the junior-to-be wrote on his Twitter account. “With that said, I would like to announce that I will be furthering my education and basketball career at Brigham Young University.”

Brown joins an incoming class that includes fellow junior-college signee Jahshire Hardnett from Gulfport, Mississippi by way of Chipola College in Florida, as well as incoming freshmen Rylan Bergersen from Boise and returning missionaries Zac Seljaas, Ryan Andrus, Dalton Nixon and Luke Worthington.

Former BYU assistant and Wyoming head coach Heath Schroyer also returned to Provo as an assistant coach following the departure of Terry Nashif.
