SAN FRANCISCO — Seven gymnasts of the Pac-12 champion Utah gymnastics team were named to the 2017 Pac-12 Gymnastics All-Academic teams, the conference announced Wednesday.

To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.0 GPA, completed a year of residency at the school and participated in at least 50 percent of the regular-season competitions.

Utah's first-team selections include sophomores Shannon McNatt and Sabrina Schwab, who both earned 4.0 GPAs in economics and health, promotion and education respectively. Both Schwab and McNatt were granted exceptions to participating in a minimum of 50 percent of the competitions requirement.

Junior co-captain Maddy Stover also received a nod on the first team with her 3.85 GPA in communication. It's her second appearance on the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team.

For the second consecutive year, junior Tiffani Lewis is on the Second Team.

Three members of the Red Rocks are part of the honorable-mention team, including sophomores Kari Lee and MaKenna Merrell, and senior Baely Rowe. Rowe finishes her career as a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection. Last year she made the Second Team and was featured as an honorable mention as a sophomore. Lee is a two-time selection, featured on the First Team in 2016.

Utah’s three freshmen — Missy Reinstadtler, MyKayla Skinner and Kim Tessen — as well as sophomore transfer Macey Roberts, were not eligible for the team because they have not completed a year of residency.
