WEST VALLEY CITY — A teen suffered a possible broken leg after being trapped in a vehicle after a crash that shut down a portion of a road for more than an hour Wednesday, police said.
Emergency crews responded to a report of the crash near 6900 West and 5400 South around 2:50 p.m., according to West Valley Police Lt. Jeff Conger.
Conger said a 17-year-old girl was driving a vehicle and struck a street sweeper and was pinned inside her vehicle. Crews were able to free her from the vehicle, and she was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but Conger said it was possible that dust from the street sweeper caused visibility problems.
West Valley police closed 5400 West from Mountain View Corridor to 6200 West while cleaning up the crash, but the road reopened at about 4:30 p.m.
