SALT LAKE CITY — We’ve been counting down the days until the Utah season begins from 20 days out, but the real countdown begins today, as just one week stands between now and kickoff. In turn, KSL.com will be highlighting two players wearing No. 7 this season in Andre Godfrey and Devonta’e Henry-Cole.

Andre Godfrey, JR, defensive back

Another talent out of Florida, Godfrey is a veteran presence in a stacked Utah secondary. Now a junior, he stands as the backup to to Marcus Williams, who has a firm grasp on that position as one of the best at his position in the entire conference. That said, Godfrey has been a contributor on this team since his first season as a Ute, where he played in seven games as a true freshman.

Godfrey played in nearly every game in 2015, missing just two due to injury, and has a good amount of experience under his belt. He doesn’t fill the stat sheet with only 11 career total tackles to his name, but the 5-foot-10, 191-pound safety’s all-around play has earned him a spot in the regular rotations of DBs.

Check out some of his high school highlights here.

Devonta’e Henry-Cole, FR, running back

Henry-Cole came to Utah by way of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, following teammates Chris Hart and Tyson Cisrow to Salt Lake City. The two-star recruit had an injury-shortened season his senior year of high school after a broken wrist sidelined him after just three games.

During his junior campaign, though, Henry-Cole showed big-play ability by averaging 11.8 yards per carry and scoring five touchdowns. At 5-foot-8, 192 pounds, he has the speed to be dangerous with the ball in his hands, clocking a time of 10.87 seconds in the 100-meter dash on his high school’s track squad.

With Joe Williams and Troy McCormick solidifying their spots as the starter and backup at his position, and even fellow freshman Zack Moss impressing in fall camp, don’t expect Henry-Cole to do much in 2016. That said, there’s potential there for the speedster from Florida. Twitter: @GriffDoug
