SALT LAKE CITY — Any time you can hang out with former Utah Jazz coach and president Frank Layden, you have to take advantage.
Layden will be honored with the Distinguished Utahn Award by the BYU Management Society this summer for his contributions and commitment to supporting growing moral and ethical leadership on the Wasatch Front.
The Utah Sports Commissioner hall of famer dropped the SportsBeat studio to share some of his favorite moments with the Jazz, including John Stockton’s miracle shot 19 years ago from Sunday that sent the Jazz to the NBA Finals and the 1984 Playoffs when the Jazz beat the Nuggets 3-2.
Layden also had plenty of laughs, a few anecdotes and he gave his opinion on the current roster and Jazz coach Quin Snyder, as well as good friend and former coach Jerry Sloan’s battle with Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia.
