LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON — A woman was in serious condition after a fall hiking in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
The 25-year-old woman was hiking at Lisa Falls on Sunday afternoon when she slipped and fell about 4:45 p.m., Unified police detective Ken Hansen said. Police say she sustained neck and head injuries.
Her husband, who was hiking with her, called 911, Hansen said. The woman was in serious condition and was expected to improve.
Emergency crews managed to reach the woman to stabilize her, as search and rescue crews prepared rigging to bring her down the steep, rugged trail, according to UPD.
"They're preparing to put her on a board and bring her back down to the ambulance," Hansen said.
Unified police reported shortly after 8:30 p.m. that the hiker was off the mountain and would be transported to an area hospital.
The woman's name was not released.
