HOLLYWOOD — Sunday was a big day for sports and the ad world alike. In the midst of the excellent and terrible promotions for Doritos, guacamole and pills addressing medical conditions you never knew existed, there were teaser trailers for some upcoming movies that are eagerly anticipated by audiences worldwide. Here are five that have us most excited:

'Jason Bourne'

At first glance, you may be thinking, "Really? Another addition to the 'Bourne' cannon?" And you're not alone. While there's been a trilogy featuring Matt Damon and a moderately interesting retooling starring Jeremy Renner, studios maybe thought jumping on the back of Damon's recent acting success in "The Martian is a reason to reboot the franchise. "Jason Bourne" will feature some new characters like Alicia Vikander and Tommy Lee Jones while bringing back Julia Stiles to reprise her role as Nicky.

"Jason Bourne" hits theaters July 29, if he can remember how to get there.

'The Jungle Book'

We got a glimpse of Jon Favreau's live-action reimagining of "The Jungle Book" back in September, but an extended trailer released during Super Bowl 50 gave a deeper look into Kipling's classic. While the original teaser kept most of the voice performances under wraps, the trailer released yesterday gave a taste of anticipated vocal performances from the likes of Idris Elba, Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Walken and company. Oh, and it's pretty obvious that the movie's 3D features will be a major focus of the film.

The latest Disney feature to get the live-action treatment will swing into theaters on April 15.

'Captain America: Civil War'

One thing's for sure: When Marvel's Avengers find themselves pitted against each other, many things are going to explode. Now that nearly all Avenger members have had their own installment as part of the seemingly endless Marvel universe and the Avengers have convened for two movies, it's time for all that fighting-for-the-greater-good stuff to come crashing down. Conflict is the name of the game in the third "Captain America" movie. Subtitled "Civil War," it's Cap and Bucky against the world and all manner of Tony Stark gadgetry.

Many things will go boom on giant screens across the U.S. on May 6.

'X-Men: Apocalypse'

What happens when the comic book adaptation with the best cast has to cast one of the most significant villains in its universe? You go out and get Oscar Isaac.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is the third installment of the X-Men movie prequels that have followed young Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr as they became Professor X and Magneto, respectively. With a social climate that has become increasingly wary of mutants, how will the world and the X-Men respond when mutant menace Apocalypse — hell-bent on destroying earth — bursts onto the scene?

Not well, a 45-second teaser trailer foreshadows.

The blockbuster hits theaters May 26.

'Independence Day: Resurgence'

As we were so painfully reminded recently, "Independence Day" is a movie that is turning 20 this year, having premiered in 1996. There's no better way to celebrate the landmark than by a reboot of the series.

Invading aliens are back in a short teaser trailer, and boy, are they not happy. The kind of movie magic destruction that occurred in the original is back with more panache. Jeff Goldblum is back as David Levinson, as is Bill Pullman playing President Whitmore. The movie also features Liam Hemsworth, who has wrapped up his work on "The Hunger Games" franchise.

America will defend itself from invaders once again on June 24.
