PROVO — Georgia native Elijah Bryant announced his decision to join the BYU men's basketball team via his Instagram feed on Tuesday evening.
The 6-foot-4 combo guard played his freshman season at Elon University in North Carolina, where he led the team in scoring and took home Colonial Athletic Association rookie of the year honors.

Bryant, who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was released by Elon on July 6, according to his Twitter feed. He also considered Butler and Miami (Fla.), in addition to his visit to BYU.
BYU teammate Nick Emery tweeted his excitement at Bryant's transfer on Tuesday.

Bryant will be ineligible for the 2015-16 season, per NCAA transfer rules, but he will enroll at BYU immediately and be available for the 2016-17 season. He will be a redshirt sophomore when he is eligible to suit up for the Cougars.
