SALT LAKE CITY — An observant ambulance team helped foil an early morning theft at West High School, police say.

Two men broke through a fence at the school, located at 241 N. 300 West, shortly after 4 a.m., according to the Salt Lake City Police Department.

The men broke into some driver's education cars, ripped the batteries out of a number of the vehicles and loaded the batteries into a shopping cart, police say.

A team parked in an ambulance across the street watched the entire incident and called police.

Officers arrested two men, but their names were not immediately available.
