SALT LAKE CITY — Those who will have adult beverages in celebration of Cinco de Mayo may want to add AAA's number to get them and their car home safe.

For Mexican Heritage Day, AAA Utah will offer free towing as a community service to anyone. From 6 p.m. on May 5 to 6 a.m. the following day, anyone in need of a safe trip home can call AAA and tell the operator, “I need a Tipsy Tow.”

The number for the 10-mile free trip and tow is 800-222-4357. The service is one-way and will be directed to the person’s home. Additional people could join in the ride, assuming there is room to be safely transported.

“Tipsy Tow” isn’t just for AAA customers, but for anyone that needs a ride home during that 12-hour span.

“Many people enjoy getting into the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, which tends to involve plenty of celebrating,” said Rolayne Fairclough, spokesperson for AAA Utah in a press release. “If you’ve been drinking alcohol, don’t get behind the wheel. Give AAA a call and we’ll make sure you get home safely.”

No one can make reservations for this service.
