PROVO — Low cost, strong employment prospects and a “sound reputation” launched Brigham Young University to the top of a new list ranking the value of MBA programs.

BYU’s Marriott School of Management was the only program to receive a rating of “A+” from the financial firm M7 Financial. Its rankings were based on the “ability of an average student at each school to pay typical program-related student loan obligations upon graduation.”

According to the report, BYU MBA students have an average of $27,942 of debt from program-related costs at graduation. The average starting salary, plus bonus, for the new grads is $110,216, with 95.4 percent of students employed three months after graduation.

In contrast, the Harvard Business School is ranked as the No. 1 program by U.S. News & World Report, but its students graduate with an average of $73,926 in program-related debt, the report states. Their average starting salary plus bonus is $128,346, with 89.4 percent of students employed three months after graduation.

After BYU, the Wisconsin School of Business offers the next best value, according to the report. Harvard came in ninth place.
