FARMINGTON — A former corrections officer at the Davis County Jail has been charged with engaging in an illegal sex act with an inmate.

Michael David Mueller, 51, of Layton, was charged on Jan. 5 in 2nd District Court with custodial sexual relations, a third-degree felony.

According to charging documents, a female inmate at the jail reported that she performed a sex act on Mueller in September at the jail.

Mueller was given a summons and ordered to appear in court on March 30. He resigned from the jail in September, according to the Davis County Sheriff's Office.
