WEST HAVEN — Four schools were placed under temporary lockout after a detective saw a man carrying a firearm in the area.

The Weber County Sheriff’s Office received a call from another police agency around 12 p.m. alerting them to a man with a gun, according to Sgt. Lane Findlay. The detective reported seeing a man carrying a gun case with a shotgun inside near 5000 West and 5900 South, Findlay said.

The detective was able to secure the gun case, but the man fled the scene on foot. Weber County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to help search for the man.

During the manhunt, West Haven Elementary, Freedom Elementary in Hooper, Country View Elementary and Rocky Mountain Junior High School were placed under lockout for security purposes. The lockout lasted around 15 minutes and classes resumed inside the schools.

Deputies located Wyatt Shradley, 20, who had a warrant out for his arrest, near 4250 West and 4800 South and arrested him without incident, Findlay said. Shradley was booked into the Weber County Jail.
