SALT LAKE CITY — Attorneys in a case against a teenager accused of killing 15-year-old Anne Kasprzak appear to be ready to proceed with a preliminary hearing.
On Monday, a 3rd District Juvenile Court judge held a brief hearing to find out if both sides were on schedule for a March hearing during which evidence will be presented against the 17-year-old boy.
The teen, who was 14 when he allegedly beat Kasprzak to death and dumped her body in the Jordan River in 2012, is charged in juvenile court with murder, a first-degree felony, and obstructing justice, a second-degree felony.
A combined seven-day hearing to determine whether the teen will stand trial as an adult and whether there is enough evidence to proceed to trial, is scheduled to begin March 2. KSL has chosen not to name the boy at this time.
On Monday, prosecutors told the judge their certification report is complete and they are ready to proceed.
