NEVERLAND — Another rendition of the boy who never grows up is headed to theaters this summer.

Peter Pan has taken the form of a cartoon movie, a musical production and more, and now, the untold story of the lost boy will be revealed.

Warner Bros. released the “Pan” trailer Tuesday, opening with a character that gives the tale a new perspective — Peter’s mother.

Peter’s mother explains to her son in a letter that she had to leave him, but she promises he will see her again someday, in this world or another.

The first part of the two-and-a-half-minute trailer suggests Peter grew up in an orphanage and was snatched up with the other boys before being transported to Neverland.

There, Peter encounters Blackbeard, played by Hugh Jackman, who seems to be the film’s villain rather than Captain Hook, played by Garrett Hedlund, who might turn out to be Peter’s friend.

Earlier this week, Entertainment Weekly provided Peter Pan fans with some sneak peak images of the characters in full costume.
