OGDEN — A former Clearfield High School teacher who pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a student appeared in court Wednesday to receive her sentence. A judge postponed the sentencing after prosecutors recommended no jail time.

State prosecutors have recommended no jail time for Gaile Kristine Supp. Second District Court Judge Brent West said he had concerns about the recommendation and mentioned Supp's probation officer said further testing needed to be done.

In 2013, a 17-year-old Clearfield High student told investigators she went to Supp's home in West Haven to get help with homework. According to court records, Supp then showed the student a sexually explicit movie and sexually assaulted her.

Supp was charged in April 2013 with object rape, a first-degree felony and her teaching certificate was revoked. In September 2013, she pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of sexual battery, a third-degree felony. The victim requested that Supp not serve any jail or prison time, and in turn, that is what prosecutors recommended to West on Wednesday.

She will not be required to register as a sex offender because of the third-degree felony conviction.

Supp refused to make a comment for KSL at the courthouse. She will be back in court her sentencing on Nov. 19.
