VIDEOVILLE — Whether you like the music of band OK Go or not, it’s hard to deny the creativity and near magic of its music videos. In fact, I think it’s fair to say that the world would never have known about this alt rock band if it wasn’t for its videos.

From its first video for “Here It Goes Again” in 2006, to its collaborative effort with Chevrolet to make “Needing/Getting,” to the single-shot, optical illusion extravaganza of “The Writing’s on the Wall,” OK Go has continued to amaze viewers and instill a sense of wonder with its videos.

The band’s latest video efforts for its song “I Won’t Let You Down” — a throwback tune with an early 80s, Michael Jackson vibe — continues to uphold its creative reputation.

This time around OK Go created a whimsical, wow factor using self-balancing unicycles, umbrellas and hundreds of extras dressed in plaid skirts and knee socks.

The video starts off slow and is only kind of neat as the band rolls around on unicycles. But as more extras are added, popping umbrellas open and close for unbelievable aerial shots, it’s easy to see that the band has still has the magic touch for music videos.
