Editor's Note: This video contains a loud, sudden crash.SAN DIEGO — A driver is stunned when a tree terrifyingly crushes his car on a California highway during a storm.

On Sept. 16, 2014, Daniel Wu was driving on Route 163 south of I-8 in San Diego during a storm when a towering eucalyptus tree ironically smashed his Nissan Leaf from hood to hatchback, according AccuWeather.

AccuWeather reported the storm included wind gusts of up to 50 mph, and KNSD reported other downed trees, lightning strikes and damage throughout the area.

Wu was running a dash cam and got the accident, as well as some of the aftermath and cleanup, on video.

The tree creeps into the scene in the upper righthand corner of the video and smashes Wu’s car with a loud crash. The deployment of the car’s airbags knocks the dash cam off the dash, allowing us to see the stunned look on Wu’s face.

As far as I’m concerned, Wu doesn’t look as terrified as he should be, considering a massive object just smashed his car and a neighboring car, stopping them each in their tracks. But I will also admit there’s no accounting for initial reactions in potentially life-threatening situations.

Luckily, because of the way the tree branched, Wu was reportedly unharmed, “leafing” us free to make terrible puns and jokes about how a tree smashed an environmentally friendly, electric car called a Leaf.
