SALT LAKE CITY — Whether it’s massive pop stars, blossoming country artists, or passionate indie bands you enjoy, this week Salt Lake City will be hosting all of them.

Katy Perry, EnergySolutions Arena, Monday

Katy Perry is gracing Salt Lake City with her presence on Monday as part of her Prismatic World Tour. She has been touring since May 2014 in support of her album “Prism.”

This tour has been described as “real genius,” and Billboard said she is “at the top of her game” with this tour. Many of her smash hits will be played alongside over-the-top visuals and extravagant dance moves. But with all of the spectacles and pyrotechnics, it has been said it is also her most personal tour.

Fun is the word that has been most consistently thrown around when describing her shows, and it has almost been guaranteed that all who go will have plenty of fun.

Kopecky Family Band, the State Room, Monday

If you are looking for something more intimate and heart-felt, the Kopecky Family Band might be your better option. The six-piece indie rock band from Nashville started in 2007 and has released thee EPs and one LP in that time.

The band is noted for its beautiful harmonies and ability to switch between multiple instruments, which diversifies its sound. The band's songs match the harmonies and engaging melodies with a full and intricate sound.

It has toured extensively over the last seven years, and it is in its live shows where the group has been receiving the most accolades.

“Live, they are really going places beyond the record. (Their record) is still quite nice, but live, man they were fantastic. I was just giddy,” Stephen Thompson of NPR Music said.

The Drums, Urban Lounge, Thursday

Since the release of the group's EP “Summertime!” in 2009, The Drums has been making catchy pop-rock songs and has become one of the leading bands in the post-punk revival. The band just released its third studio album, “Encyclopedia,” and began touring in earnest earlier this year.

The group has become well known for its shimmery surf rock sound, but with its new album, it has developed a much more lonesome and darker sound.

“We want to have left great, conceptual, beautiful, glimmering records in the world. We’re thinking super long term, like dead-term,” the lead-singer, Johnny Pierce, said about writing the group's last album.

It might sound slightly morbid, but it is more of a testament to the band’s goals and hopes of how it hopes its music can impact those who hear it.

Scotty McCreery, Peppermill Concert Hall, Saturday

Scotty McCreery hasn’t slowed down since winning the 10th season of "American Idol" in 2011. The young country singer has taken complete advantage of his "American Idol" fame, and over the last three years has become one of country music’s biggest new stars.

In three years he has come out with three albums, and his songs, “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble With Girls,” have spent time in the country Top 20. On this tour, he will be playing these hits along with many more favorites.

McCreery was only 17 when he auditioned for "American Idol," so the last few years have seen a lot of growth for McCreery, and it’s a growth he is proud of.

“I’m definitely more mature. … My music is always going to grow with me. I’m not ever going to sing about me getting drunk at a bar, because that’s not me, but the subject matter and sounds of the songs are more mature … and I’m proud of that,” McCreery said.
