IRON COUNTY — After 10 months of investigation, a man in Iron County was arrested on child pornography counts, police said Tuesday.

Lawrence Paul Herring, 65, was charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a child, according to the Iron County Sheriff’s Office. The law enforcement agency said it delivered a search warrant on Nov. 18 after being tipped off to the possible child pornography case by the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force.

“Several items of electronic evidence were collected for review,” a probable cause statement reads. “During the service of the search warrant, a preview search of Lawrence’s laptop was previewed and several thumbnail images believed to be child pornography were located.”

Over 70 images and 12 videos determined by the Dixie State University forensic lab to be child pornography were found on the laptop, external hard drive and two thumb drives belonging to Lawrence, according to the probable cause statement. They also found personal documents and family photos on the same devices, investigators said.

Herring was arrested Friday after voluntarily coming to the sheriff’s office for an interview at the law enforcement agency’s request, investigators said. His bail was set at $30,000, according to court documents.
