ISLAMABAD (AP) — A spokesman says a Pakistani air force fighter jet has crashed near the southern city of Karachi, killing the pilot.
Air Force Spokesman Tariq Mahmood says the Mirage fighter jet was on a routine night-time training mission Friday when it went down on the outskirts of Karachi, the capital of southern Sindh province.
He says the air force has ordered a probe to determine what caused the crash.
Mahmood says the crash caused no damage on ground and that their investigators had reached the site of the crash.
Pakistan's air force has suffered similar crashes in the past, but authorities usually don't share the details about such incidents with the public.
