ASHLAND, Mass. (AP) — A doctor made famous in the 1998 movie "Patch Adams" will perform as a clown at a Massachusetts learning center for adults with disabilities.

Dr. Hunter "Patch" Adams is known for using humor and creativity to treat patients. He was played in the movie by the late comedian and actor Robin Williams.

Adams will perform Tuesday at Advocates' Life Skills & Learning Center in Ashland. Following that performance, Adams will speak on "The Joy of Caring" at The Verve Hotel, Crowne Plaza in Natick. His speech is open to the public.

His visit is part of Advocates' 40th anniversary celebration.
