CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — A Natrona County detention officer accused of leaking information about a sexual assault case has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of unlawfully releasing a confidential name.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://goo.gl/64hRce ) 30-year-old Brendon Littau entered his plea Friday and requested a jury trial.
He is accused of disclosing the names of those involved in a rape investigation to a relative who shared the information with the suspect in the assault case. The suspect then contacted the person who reported the assault.
Authorities say the information leak did not jeopardize the rape investigation, and the suspect was arrested.
Prosecutors say the information should have been known only to law enforcement and the person who reported being assaulted.
