SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Latest on fires burning in Utah (all times local):

10:30 a.m.

Firefighters are working to contain a small wildfire burning several miles south of the central Utah town of Scipio (SIP-ee-oh) about 120 miles south of Salt Lake City.

The wildfire was started by lightning on Saturday and kicked up Sunday. It had burned nearly 8 square miles as of Monday morning.

The fire is about four miles southwest of the town and the only structures threatened are a power line and some communication towers.

Fire spokesman Adam Solt says the fire came within half a mile of the power line but started moving east instead of north.

Several roads are closed in the area and officials say smoke may impact visibility for drivers on nearby Interstate 15 at night.

Firefighters have contained most of a wildfire that's burned just over half of Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake.

The lightning-sparked fire had burned nearly 23 square miles by Monday morning and was 80 percent contained.

Fire spokesman Shayne Ward says crews made big progress over the weekend. He says Monday is expected to be hot but not too windy on the island.

A firefighter suffered heat cramps on Sunday and was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Ward says the firefighter was in good condition.

Ward says no wildlife injuries were reported on the island.

A number of roads on the island are closed and officials canceled Pioneer Day festivities inside the park over the weekend.

Antelope Island, the largest island in the lake, is about 60 miles north of Salt Lake City.
