JEFFERSON, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say an Athens man has died after he was found injured on a Jackson County roadside, where he had been riding his bicycle.

The Georgia State Patrol said 63-year-old William Shultz was found on the road outside Jefferson late Sunday morning.

Jackson County Coroner Dean Stringer tells The Athens Banner-Herald (http://bit.ly/290Tjbk) that an autopsy showed he died of a fractured vertebra.

State Patrol Cpl. C.E. Parker said there was no evidence to indicate the bicycle had been struck by another vehicle.
