LAUDERHILL, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say two people have saved an unconscious driver trapped inside a burning car along Florida's Turnpike.

Lauderhill Fire Rescue Capt. Jerry Gonzalez tells news outlets that 28-year-old Isaiah Hapersham and another bystander smashed the windows and pulled the driver from the burning car Monday afternoon.

Gonzalez says the car had burst into flames after the driver had crashed into a light pole near an entrance ramp.

Hapersham and the other bystander pulled over to help the driver before rescue crews arrived. Gonzalez says the driver was taken to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Authorities haven't released the identity of the driver or the motorist's condition.
