FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Authorities have charged a South Florida man and his girlfriend in the death of his 2-year-old daughter in November.
Thirty-four-year-old Larry Haynes and his 23-year-old girlfriend Amber McCray were held without bond Saturday at the Broward County jail. Each is charged with second-degree murder.
The Miami Herald reports (http://hrld.us/294JWZd ) that relatives called the Broward Sheriff's Office after finding Za'mya Williams unconscious in bed.
She was pronounced dead at a hospital Nov. 19. The sheriff's office determined her death was a homicide.
WFOR-TV reports (http://cbsloc.al/28V9ma9 ) that county medical examiner Dr. Stephen Robinson ruled Za'mya died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen and head.
The girl's mother told WFOR-TV that she's waited months for Haynes' arrest.
Jail records didn't show whether Haynes or McCray had attorneys.
