DRAPER, Utah (AP) — Utah prison officials say an inmate has died after apparently hanging himself in his cell.
Utah Department of Corrections spokeswoman Brooke Adams says 20-year-old Rainey Manyhides was found hanging and unresponsive on Tuesday night.
He was hospitalized for several days before dying Friday morning.
Adams says Manyhides did not have a cellmate.
He was serving time for attempted robbery and attempted assault.
Manyhides was imprisoned in March 2014 and briefly paroled earlier this year but returned to prison in May after violating parole.
Adams says police will investigate his death as part of a standard procedure.
