LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a man lost control of his Corvette and died in the resulting crash.
Authorities say the 75-year-old driver was traveling Saturday morning on Washington Avenue near Bruce Street.
Witnesses say the 1989 Chevrolet Corvette was going at a high rate of speed when it began to slide sideways.
Police say the car hit a curb, drove up on the sidewalk and struck a palm tree.
The driver was transported to the hospital where he was declared dead.
His identity was not released.
Police say this is the 44th traffic-related fatality this year they have investigated.
