PHOENIX (AP) — A teenager accused of shooting and wounding a high school student in Phoenix has been charged as an adult.

Authorities say the 16-year-old boy faces two counts of aggravated assault in the shooting of 18-year-old Tayler Maggi last month.

Maggi was driving home from dinner with his girlfriend in north-central Phoenix on April 14 when he was struck in the head by a bullet.

He lost control of the car and crashed into a wall. His girlfriend wasn't seriously hurt.

Police arrested the suspect two weeks after the shooting.

According to court paperwork released Thursday, Maggi was stopped at a red light alongside the vehicle the suspect was in.

Maggi's girlfriend told investigators that someone in the other car yelled at Maggi that they didn't like his car.
