LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The Latest on a shooting near the route of the Kentucky Derby Festival Pegasus Parade on Thursday (all times local):
9 p.m.
Louisville Police Chief Steve Conrad says two teenage boys have been taken into custody and are being questioned after a shooting near the route of the Kentucky Derby Festival Pegasus Parade that injured two other teens.
He says a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening in the shooting Thursday evening.
The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. in downtown Louisville near the parade route. The parade began at 5 p.m., and people were lining the streets to watch.
Conrad said at a news conference that officers apprehended the two 15-year-olds within minutes of the shooting. He said it's believed the three boys know each other but believe the girl was "an innocent bystander."
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said 100,000 or more people attended the parade, one of the events held during a week of festivities leading up to the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on Saturday.

Louisville police say two people have been shot near the route of the Kentucky Derby Festival's Pegasus Parade.
Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley says both people were taken to a hospital with injuries that didn't appear to be life-threatening. She did not have ages or other identifying information about the victims.
Smiley said the shooting occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of Fourth Street and Broadway, a main intersection in downtown Louisville that is along the parade route. The parade began at 5 p.m., and people were lining the streets to watch.
