COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A man from Olympia, Washington, was arrested Sunday in Idaho after three police pursuits in seven hours.

His police troubles began around Saturday night.

The Kootenai County sheriff's office and the Coeur d'Alene police department responded to a citizen report of a reckless driver around 7:30 a.m., and quickly realized it was the same vehicle they had chased around 1 a.m. after a moving violation.

The sheriff's office says he eluded arrested after a short chase through a neighborhood but was spotted again in the parking lot of a motel. When he tried to drive away a third time, he drove over a set of spike strips. The driver lost control of his vehicle and drove off the road.

Sgt. Ward Crawford reports deputies arrested the man, Walcy V. Ngirngotel, 25, after he ran from the truck with a rifle in hand. He was found hiding behind some large air conditioner units on the back side of a commercial building.

He was taken to the Kootenai County Public Safety Building where he was booked for multiple charges including resisting arrested, driving under the influence and felony eluding.

Ngirngotel is scheduled to make his first appearance in court on Monday.
