LAS VEGAS (AP) — A mother who claims her 22-year-old son was pursued by Las Vegas police when he crashed a motorcycle and died in November 2013 is alleging that police were negligent and reckless.

Angela Lucero seeks unspecified damages greater than $10,000 in a lawsuit filed Nov. 10 in state court in Las Vegas.

A spokesman said Tuesday the department doesn't comment on litigation.

Lucero didn't immediately respond to a message.

The lawsuit alleges a police chase caused Anthony Richard Lucero's crash on Charleston Boulevard.

Police said at the time the Henderson man sped away from an officer signaling him to stop several miles east of downtown Las Vegas.

Police denied there was a chase, said the motorcycle had no lights and said it passed several red traffic signals before striking a van.
