LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada prison inmate has died.

The Nevada Department of Corrections says 50-year-old Michael Loewen died Saturday at Centennial Hospital in Las Vegas.

Officials did not say why Loewen was taken to the hospital.

Loewen had been imprisoned since March 20.

He was serving a sentence of 12 to 36 months for grand larceny.

His body has been turned over to the Clark County Coroner's Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
