NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans police on Friday identified a suspect in a shooting last weekend at a playground that wounded 17 people.

In a statement Friday, police said they are looking for 32-year-old Joseph "Moe" Allen, who is believed to be one of the suspects involved in the Sunday shooting. He will be charged with 17 counts of attempted first-degree murder once he is located.

The police believe several other suspects were involved in the shooting and are asking people to come forward with any information they might have.

But Mayor Mitch Landrieu said the police have not received any video of the scene from witnesses, WWL-TV reported.

The mayor called on Allen to turn himself in.

"It would be much better for you to turn yourself in, because we're going to find you," Landrieu said.

Two groups of people opened fire at each other in a crowded park as hundreds of people gathered for a block party and a music video taping.

The shooting sent people scrambling for their lives, leaving behind personal items such as cellphones. The gunmen also fled on foot.

No one was killed but 17 people were wounded.

Police chief Michael Harrison described Allen as "armed and dangerous," WWL-TV reported.
