LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified the man who was fatally shot by Las Vegas police after he allegedly pulled out a handgun during a chase.

KTNV-TV in Las Vegas (http://bit.ly/1IwCWLE) reported Sunday that the Clark County coroner says 25-year-old James Marcus Brown died of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Brown was the third occupant in a car being pursued by police early Saturday.

Police investigating a possible larceny stopped a suspect vehicle on the Cheyenne overpass at Interstate 15 near North Las Vegas.

According to investigators, two men in the car were taken into custody but Brown ran.

Officers say Brown then pointed a handgun at police.

An officer fired multiple times, hitting Brown.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
