LAS VEGAS (AP) — Rain and gusty winds have capped off one of the coolest months, by Las Vegas standards at least, in nearly 15 years.
The National Weather Service said Saturday that the average temperature for July was 90.6 degrees, the coolest since 2001 when the average was 90.3.
Between 0.1 and 0.2 inches of rain fell Friday in parts of Henderson and in the southwest area of the Las Vegas valley.
The Las Vegas Sun reports (http://bit.ly/1fTq380) more than 2 inches of rain fell in Mount Charleston, where lightning sparked a house fire.
Clark County fire officials say there were no injuries. The blaze was contained within the residence.
Meanwhile, a flash flood watch has been issued for parts of southern Nevada through 9 p.m. Saturday.
