OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Utah Highway Patrol found alcohol and illegal drugs inside the vehicle of a wrong-way driver who crashed near Ogden and later died from his injuries.
Officials say a Dodge Neon was southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 Tuesday night when it collided with a Ford pickup truck. The driver of the Dodge, 25-year-old Manual Hernandez, was extricated from the wreckage and rushed by helicopter to Ogden Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
The pickup had five occupants, but all of them were wearing seat belts. They were transported to McKay-Dee Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
