MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — A new state audit reveals notable compliance issues around spending by officials at Alabama State University.

Local media reported Friday an audit released by the Alabama Department of Examiners of Public Accounts said ASU financial records show a number of issues concerning stadium construction bid contracts and trustee travel expenses. The audit also stated a number of instances when the university did not comply with Alabama's law related to open meetings for executive sessions.

A nearly $4,700 fee for late payment of a water bill was also cited, along with failure to send payment requests to other agencies regarding split utilities.

The audit examined a period from Oct. 1, 2008, to Sept. 30, 2013.
