PHOENIX (AP) — Gov. Doug Ducey has appointed a student to serve on the Arizona Board of Regents.

Ducey announced Thursday that Jared Gorshe, a Northern Arizona University senior, will be the student regent.

Ducey says Gorshe has demonstrated a strong affinity for leadership as well as passion for higher education in Arizona.

Gorshe is studying political science and criminal justice. He is currently the chief of staff to the Associated Students of NAU and chair of the Arizona Federation of College Republicans.

He will be attending graduate school in the fall to earn his Master of Public Administration.
