DALLAS (AP) — The head of the Texas hospital system sued by a nurse who contracted Ebola while caring for the first person diagnosed in the U.S. has responded to the lawsuit in an email to employees.
In the message sent Monday, Texas Health Resources CEO Barclay Berdan said he wants to "clarify two new points" raised in the lawsuit filed earlier that day by Nina Pham.
Berdan says the testimony of company official Daniel Varga at a congressional hearing was "factual and accurate." The lawsuit says Varga made "numerous patently false statements."
Berdan says Pham gave her consent for the release of information on her condition. The lawsuit agrees she gave consent, but says given the hospital found her incapable of making clinical decisions, it shouldn't have thought her capable of consent.
