LELAND, Miss. (AP) — Leland School District Superintendent Glenda Triplett-Jackson is stepping down June 30.
The Delta Democrat-Times reports (http://bit.ly/188JJkI ) Jackson made the announcement to the school board this week as it was considering an extension of her contract.
Jackson has served as superintendent since December 2012.
Jackson says she only wanted to be superintendent for the current term when she accepted an extension last year.
Jackson had succeeded Janice Monroe, whose contract was not renewed by the school board in March 2012. Jackson spent five months as interim superintendent.
Jackson, a Leland native, has spent 23 years in the Leland School District, including as principal at Leland High School and Leland School Park and as the district's federal programs director.
