KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) — A judge has ordered that prosecutors will get the mental health records of a man accused of killing an 8-year-old Bullhead City girl.
Prosecutors filed a motion Wednesday in Mohave County Superior Court for Justin James Rector's mental health records.
County Attorney Matthew Smith says the state wants records from Mohave Mental Health and Mohave County Juvenile Detention Center.
Smith says a psychiatrist needs the records to conduct a full evaluation of Rector's sanity at the time of the killing.
Rector is scheduled to stand trial in October 2016 on first-degree murder and other charges.
He was arrested after the family of Isabella "Bella" Grogan-Cannella reported her missing Sept. 2.
The girl's body was found the next day in a shallow grave near her home. Authorities say she was strangled.
