Becoming an Arkansas teacher event set Saturday

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansans who are interested in becoming a teacher in the can learn more about the process at the Arkansas Department of Education's Becoming an Arkansas Teacher event.

The event is scheduled Saturday morning at the Holiday Inn-Airport in Little Rock. High school and college students, in addition to Arkansans who have a non-education degree, will have the opportunity to meet with state Department of Education and college and university representatives.

Participants can receive information about teacher certification master degree programs and the Arkansas Professional Pathway to Educator Licensure or non-traditional licensure program.

In addition to starting the background check process, participants can visit with representatives from traditional teacher education programs from higher education institutions. An Arkansas Workforce Center mobile unit also will be onsite to assist with job searches.
