IDA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say a stun gun found on a school bus in southeastern Michigan was apparently given to the driver by her boyfriend for protection.

The Monroe News reports (http://bit.ly/1uJwKd7 ) the weapon was recently found on an Ida Public Schools bus while it was parked for repairs at a business in Monroe County's Ida Township.

The sheriff's department says an employee found the weapon on the floor near the driver's seat and reported it to his supervisor.

Sheriff's deputies questioned the bus driver, who told them her boyfriend had given it to her for protection.
