SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A decade after a Brigham Young University student vanished in China, Utah's congressional delegation is asking U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to try to find out what happened.

In a letter Monday, lawmakers from Utah and other states urged Kerry to direct the State Department to review all aspects of David Sneddon's disappearance.

Sneddon was last seen in the fall of 2004 while hiking in a remote region of western China near the Tibet border.

Chinese government officials say the 24-year-old likely had a hiking accident but lawmakers say there's no evidence of an accident and Sneddon's body has not been found.

The letter was signed by Utah's U.S. Sens. Orrin Hatch and Mike Lee and Reps. Chris Stewart, Rob Bishop, Jason Chaffetz and Jim Matheson.
